Seeking full-time senior pastor

Purpose: The Senior Pastor is the spiritual leader of the church, and is responsible to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach biblical revelation, to engage in pastoral care, and to provide administrative leadership in all areas of church life and function, working collaboratively with the deacons and the church staff to provide opportunities for Frazier members/guests to worship, to be discipled and to grow in their faith walk with God. He should be devoted to prayer and Bible study, regularly praying for the church and its members.

Qualifications:

  • Personal character, lifestyle, family life, emotional life and physical state of health should be in accordance with 1 Timothy 3.
  • Be in agreement with the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message
  • Ordained and Licensed Southern Baptist Minister.
  • Has completed theological education for pastoral ministry, with a Master of Divinity preferred.
  • Has previous experience as a Pastor.
  • Possess strong leadership skills developed through previous experience. These skills should include but not be limited to:
    • Strategic Thinking
    • Delegate tasks appropriately
    • Set general direction for organization
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in computer and technology skills.
  • Desire to support mission involvement at the local, state, national and international levels.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Be a faithful student of the Bible and a man of prayer.
  • As a preacher/teacher, present well-organized, Bible-based sermons and lessons that edify, challenge, and encourage the church as well as promote the passionate worship of God.
  • Lead the congregation to follow the Great Commission in efforts to grow God’s Kingdom and to reach the lost and the unchurched.
  • Uphold with integrity the doctrines, the constitution, and by-laws of Frazier Baptist Church.
  • Oversee the Deacons pastoral care and nurturement of the church members. Assisting the Deacons with pastoral care as requested.
  • Work to promote unity amongst staff and the church body.
  • Provide care and confidential counsel to members and non-members in planned life events (e.g., pre-marital counseling) and moments of personal struggle or crisis.
  • Provide primary oversight and direction to the church staff and church operations.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Publish church office hours and seek to maintain them on a weekly basis.
  • Meet annually with the Personnel Committee of the church for review and evaluation of the performance of pastors and paid staff.
  • Provide a plan for a qualified person to conduct services during his absence.
  • Lead/organize regular Bible study program to develop Christian maturity and depth of biblical understanding with life applications.
  • Ensure that the church maintains a focus on providing a variety of programs and initiatives that engage and involve members of every generation.
  • Oversee programs that equip members for discipleship.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to church committees and other teams in a manner that helps them to thrive independently.
  • Support the church’s youth and children’s ministry programs.
  • Equip members to utilize their spiritual gifts to serve the church
  • Alongside Pastoral staff, coordinate the believer’s baptism, the Lord’s Supper (regularly), funerals, and weddings.
  • Oversee the selection of Sunday School and small group study materials.
